From the village of Penmon to the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia), this watercolour image by Janet Bell was born out of a period of creativity and exploration of a new medium. This piece features the mountains and sea that so inspire this Anglesey artist and explores the diversity and versatility of the Welsh landscape.
During the 2020-2021 winter lockdown, a five mile travel restriction was imposed on Welsh residents. From this restriction, Janet Bell saw an opportunity to create art in a completely different way to her usual techniques. She began walking the five mile radius from her home in Ynys Môn (Anglesey), collecting images that were specific to this area. This included the spectacular view across the Menai Strait to Conwy and Eryri (Snowdonia), and the plant life found in the wild and her own home and garden. The result was a collection of watercolours, dubbed Studio:b, and Janet’s first book, Five Miles.
Studio:b prints are giclée printed on high-quality, smooth, fine art archival paper. They are unmounted and unsigned, perfect for a modern, minimal look. Each print comes in a cellophane wrapper with a cardboard backing. If you’re interested in frames, look at our range here.
